The basics

Allergy care from home

Not every allergy appointment requires an in-person visit. A virtual consultation can allow your allergist to:

  • Review your symptoms
  • Take a detailed allergy history
  • Review previous reactions
  • Review photographs
  • Discuss previous test results
  • Order appropriate blood work
  • Review medications
  • Develop a treatment plan
  • Complete certain follow-up appointments
What to expect

How it works

  1. A referral is sent

Your doctor faxes a referral, and when our team contacts you to book, you can ask whether a virtual appointment is an option for you.

  2. Meet the allergist by secure video

Your allergist reviews your symptoms and medical history.

  3. Testing is arranged if required

Blood work or other testing may be arranged close to home.

  4. Follow up virtually

Once results are available, your allergist can review them with you and discuss the next steps.

In-person services

What cannot be done virtually?

Some allergy services must still be performed in person, including:

  • Skin testing
  • Oral food challenges
  • Drug challenges
  • Spirometry
  • Patch testing
  • Supervised immunotherapy procedures

If an in-person visit is required, our team will let you know.

What do I need?

For most virtual appointments you will need:

  • A smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera
  • Internet connection
  • A quiet, private location
  • Your medication list
  • Details or photographs of previous reactions when available

Getting an assessment

Virtual appointments follow the same referral path as in-person care.

Assessments are by referral, and patients cannot book directly. Ask your family doctor, walk-in clinic, or another healthcare provider to fax a referral to 416 850 9993. Our team reviews it and contacts you to arrange the appointment.

If you are unsure whether this service applies to you, you are welcome to ask us a question first.
